Unnamed Bones, cover commission.
A YA horror novel cover for Hachette USA, transmitted through Folio Art. The central image holds two registers in tension: a forest atmosphere that closes around the viewer, and a botanical elegance that refuses to dissolve into pure threat. A non-human skull with elongated jaw and clawed hands emerges from a dense ornament of ferns, flowers, and vines arranged in symmetry. The environment is forest alone — a closed world. Orange type sits within the composition as part of the whole. This was the studio's first horror commission; the project demanded a real effort of entry, and that friction shaped every choice.
